In 2026, many Americans buying insurance through the ACA marketplaces will see out of pocket costs due to the expiration of enhanced premium tax credits, a potential administration rule change, and rising healthcare prices. While Congress could act to extend the enhanced subsidies, if they don't, a larger portion of these premium costs will shift to consumers, with some analyses suggesting premium hikes of 18-20% or more in 2026. The time to look for alternatives is upon us. In Missouri, ACA Open Enrollment for coverage in the 2026 plan yearwill typically start and will end on November 1, 2025, and ends on January 15, 2026.

• Annual Open Enrollment:This is the main time to sign up for or change a health plan for the following year.
  • November 1, 2025 - January 15, 2026: This is the period when you can enroll in a health plan for 2026.
  • Enrollment by December 15, 2025: If you enroll by this date, your coverage will start on January 1, 2026.
  • Coverage Start: If you enroll between December 16, 2025, and January 15, 2026, your coverage will start on February 1, 2026
